With heart felt sadness I regret to inform you of the sudden passing of Terry Wenham, March 05, 2021.

Terry was not only our Vice President, but a voice of reason and a driving force behind our club.

Terry’s ever present smile and humorous come backs will be truly missed by many.

Congratulations to Greg Greenwood from Brookfield. Greg is this month’s winner of the ATVANS Rafflebox 50/50 lottery. Greg takes home $10,097.50. You can watch the draw on the ATVANS Facebook page.

Another great day at ATVANS today we presented Rickie Taylor from the ACAMUTS ATV club in Annapolis County with the Early Bird prize 400cc CF Moto from Canmac Powersports. With us were members of the club and board member Mike McKinley.

Congratulations to Monica King from Pictou County. Monica was January’s winner of the ATVANS Rafflebox 50/50 Lottery. Monica will receive $11,450.

This is the third monthly 50/50 lottery and we have collectively raised $75,420, with a total of $37,710 going to three lucky winners in November, December and January.

The next draw will be February 26th at 4:00p.m. with ticket sales ending on Thursday the 25th at midnight.

Thank you to everyone who supported the 50/50 this month, ticket sales for February are now active.

Congratulations to Laura Highfield from Kennetcook Nova Scotia for winning the December 50/50 draw. Laura takes home $15,420.

The ATVANS 50/50 lottery is a monthly draw that raises funds to support trail projects and club activities, and all 42 of clubs received support from the December draw.

Tickets are now available for the January 2021 draw. The draw date will be Friday January 29th at 4 p.m. and will be livestreamed on our Facebook page. The December draw was 1/3 larger than the November draw so let’s see if we can keep the momentum going forward!

Congratulations goes out to Susan Boutilier, the jackpot winner of the first ATVANS 50/50 draw. The jackpot totaled $21,680, so Susan's share is an amazing $10,840!

We would like to thank everyone who participated, and helped our clubs raise much needed funds for their projects.

The next 50/50 jackpot will start tomorrow, Saturday November 28th.

After a long wait, the Nova Scotia Provincial government just released the OHVIF (Off Highway Vehicle Infrastructure Fund) annual reports for 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. A quick scan of the reports confirms what we already knew, ATVANS member clubs and our partners lead the way in trail development and maintenance and repair across Nova Scotia.

The reports also confirm that ATVing is a growing, vibrant sport in all regions of the province. Our 42 member clubs across Nova Scotia and their countless volunteers deserve a big ‘Thank You’ for all their hard work. These reports collectively highlight millions of dollars of hard work by club members. For every dollar of grant funding comes no less than one dollar in hard work, raised money through hosting events selling tickets, or seeking generous donations from supportive community minded businesses and individuals.

The OHVIF has been a huge success and ATVANS member clubs are a significant contributor to this success.

We are happy to report that  the $100,000 Small Grant Funding for 2020 has been allocated to the Clubs. This represents 23 different projects from one end of the province to the other. 

The Small Grant program funds 50% of a project, the other 50% is the clubs responsibility through labour, in kind, etc.

Each year ATVANS manages the ATVANS Small Project Grant Program. This year $100,000 has been set aside for small local projects. Clubs can apply for up to $5000 per project with matching funds or in-kind labour. This program is administered by Corey Robar (trails coordinator) and has oversight from the ATVANS Trails Committee.

Clubs should contact Corey prior to starting any work to see if their project is eligible. This program is an important tool for building and maintaining our trail network. For more details contact Corey Robar at trails@atvans.org.  All unused funds are not carried forward.

The All-Terrain Vehicle Association of Nova Scotia (ATVANS) is pleased to announce that we have signed an interprovincial reciprocal agreement with OFATV QuadON. This means that residents of Nova Scotia with an ATVANS Trail Permit will be able to ride the trails managed under OFATV QuadON and likewise for members of OFATV. This is another great step for our interprovincial collaboration, creating more riding opportunities for riders in both provinces while supporting tourism. ATVANS already have reciprocal agreements with QuadNB (New Brunswick) and RidePEI (Prince Edward Island ATV Federation). With the addition of OFATV we now have agreements with four provinces in Canada.

This agreement would not have been possible without the support and hard work of our many club volunteers, the commitment and efforts of our board and president (Kevin Lombard) and the cooperation of our partners at OFATV QuadON. Agreements like this not only add value to becoming a member of ATVANS but demonstrate our commitment to great partnership that enhances riding opportunities for our sport and members.

We look forward to welcoming our friends from OFATV when public health guidance and travel restrictions allow. We also look forward to visiting and riding the trails managed by QuadON in the near future.
